Trinity Jewellery Crafts
Trinity Jewellery is located in the Mathare Valley, one of the poorest slums outside of Nairobi. Joseph Muchina, the director, and the other 3 founding members, grew up in the neighborhood, were educated and trained by the National Christian Council of Kenya, and returned to share their business expertise with young men from their community. In addition to their monthly income, the twelve men employed by Trinity all participate in a profit- sharing plan and 10% of their earnings are set aside each month in a pension plan. The jewelry is all hand-made using brass, glass beads, and seeds.
