South Africa
:
Wupperthal Rooibos Tea Association

Red bush (rooibos in Afrikaans) tea grows wild only in the Northern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. The 170 small farmer members of the Wupperthal Rooibos Tea Association are descendants of the indigenous San and Khoi peoples. Rooibos tea, which is non-caffeinated, naturally sweet, and high in anti-oxidants, was first discovered by the Khoi over 300 years ago when it was used to calm colicky babies and treat other stomach disorders.
