Mayan Hands
Mayan Hands works with 230 Maya women weavers from small villages across Guatemala. Most of the weavers work on the ancient backstrap loom, a simple device on which even expert weavers can produce only one inch per hour. Mayan Hands assists these talented weavers in technical training, organization skills, quality control, design and product development. Selling their products in a fair trade market allows the weavers and their families to eat better, send their children to school and harbor hope for a better future.
